#22 – Douglas XB-42 Mixmaster – 1944
Douglas XB-42 Mixmaster, a trial plane flying machine, intended to have a high top speed (1944). The XB-42 was created at first as a private wander; a spontaneous proposition was introduced to the United States Army Air Forces in May 1943. This brought about an Air Force contract for two models and one static test airframe, the USAAF seeing a charming probability of finding a plane equipped for the Boeing B-29 Superfortress’ range without its size or cost.
