The Human Comedy is a comic novel written by American short story writer, playwright and novelist William Saroyan. It was published by United States publishing firm Harcourt on 4 February 1943. The tale of novel based on life of Saroyan and the characters Ulysses and Homer living without father with his siblings and his mother in Fresno, California. Homer is the name of main character as well as the name of author of Odyssey. Ulysses is the younger brother of Homer. Ithaca is the home-town of Homer and Ulysses in the novel and Odysseus’s home-island in the Odyssey. Homer is in love with young lady Helen Eliot. It happens amid World War II.
